At Yellow Door Shoes, we believe that color should have a soul. Industrial dyeing processes produce flat, uniform tones; our hand-applied Patina process produces a living finish. By manipulating the porosity of the leather and layering pigments with brushes, sponges, and cloths, we achieve a "Chiaroscuro" effect—the interplay of light and shadow that defines classic Italian masterpieces.

1. The Raw Canvas: We begin with premium "crust" leather—untreated hides selected for their ability to absorb pigment

     deeply.

2. The Base Toning: A primary wash is applied to establish the core temperature of the color (Warm Amber, Deep Obsidian, or 

     Midnight Cobalt).

3. The Hand-Burnishing: Using specialized techniques, we "burn" the edges and seams with darker pigments to create the

     signature depth and three-dimensional appearance.

4. The Glaze & Protection: The final layers are sealed with natural waxes and oils, ensuring the color remains vibrant while

     developing a rich character over time.
